This so resonates with me. I always strove to have programs that were authentic, reflective of my performers and audiences, and with a new administration, who purported to be a musician, my services were no longer valued or required.
Yes, we live in a society where music education is not valued by those outside the music education bubble and valued for the wrong reasons by so many inside it. I wrote about that in one of my first articles:
